I worked with someone that used paid forum posting to try and jump start his forum... he paid a company to make posts on his forum for a couple of months. It seemed like a losing battle to me. I think that it's better to find real, interested people but maybe you could do something like that to help build a content base.

I will be a little more specific now and give an example of the host I use. I use Go Daddy, which some people don't like, but to me they are extremely easy to use. Plus, if you ever want to move, it's pretty easy to move to a new host.

I did the paid posting thing for a while to try to get a forum going on a site. It was a giant waste of money. The forum eventually shut down so it was all for nothing.

Initially, I you have to promote it a little, in related forums.

If you won't advertise your forum, you won't be able to get visitors!
