What is a new theme actually going to do?

The design is not the reason people come to this forum. It's the discussion, the activity, the marketplace. This place used to be 'happening', there were always new threads and interesting ones! I see maybe one or two new topics every month in the general discussion bit, I used to go out of my way to post one or two every day! Likewise, in the other forums to encourage posts.

I don't think people have become bored of forums but this place has lost it's appeal because you just know there is nothing new to read and there are far more active communities.

A very good point, just look what happened when the current design was unleashed on the community. I fear nothing any of us say here will add anything new to the concerns. If things get done, then awesome and best of luck. Otherwise, as the popular term of the day goes… "meh."

Don't brush him off, Dan asked a valid question. Its a few days short of a month since you said "We are days away from the final product anyway." Furthermore, the "exclusive" facebook update was a sad excuse for a preview, it was a partial screenshot that mostly consisted of a logo which has not been finalized.

If you don't want us asking questions about what is(nt) going on just say so, pretend answers like those only server to piss people off even more.

At this point I think Salathe's last post sums it up well.

VG, that screenshot on Facebook was an older work in progress stuff. We've wrapped up the design at this stage and I will update the community in a very short while.

And exclusive to facebook users there is now a contest going on for the logo. It will probably be another 6 months at this rate...

less complaining and maybe we should all try to get it going with just us. I use to come here and buy good solid unfinished projects. What happened? Did everyone just fall out of the web biz ?

This is insufficient. We've been told to expect x in the coming days and weeks, yet constantly the failure to deliver arises. Please don't set expectations on a whim, especially if you cannot keep them. I believe any mildly curious personnel are burning out.
