  Old  Laptops

Seriously. My laptop is a pile of ****.

It lasts a max of 40 minutes when unplugged before it needs recharging and I can never use it in the sun cause of the glossy screen. Urgh... Wanna new laptop.

Recommendations?

Don't buy one of the new macbooks. So many new bugs and problems apple is claiming as "features". The displays are cheap sub-par ones too :c.

I've heard most laptop screens are glossy now. Dell has a few options for an led screen though, that should save you tons of battery life. Anything from Del and HP are my recommendations. Just don't get one of the $299 laptops and expect it to fly though photoshop filters without stuttering .

I have to disagree. With a slower SATA interface and outdated screen technology, they're truly ripping people off with their "professional" line. There have been plenty of blog post on the subject since the release, google around and see what you find .

Only reason I worry about the sata speeds is because i frequently have an optical drive, and normally two external hard drives going. It wouldn't take long to fully saturate that on the new laptops.

Everyone finds something to complain about. The real problem is the 3g S overheating. They need to take care of that..

At the sata comment: why would you buy a laptop to run 2 hdd's and an optical drive. Doesn't this defeat the purpose of portability?

True.

The optical drive is built in lol, not external. and one external hdd is an older one for older files, with the other being a new one. Basically if you use a lot of external things, pass and find another laptop. Otherwise the new macbook pros are great minus the crappy displays and other normal kinks lol. I still recommend a dell or hp laptop though, more bang for your buck hardware wise.

^The only display complaint is with the 13" because it didn't really get an upgrade display wise, but rather hardware wise.

notebook can be a pretty good choice if you're looking for price and portability

i have a lenovo s10 with macosx and windows in dual boot (hackintosh) and it's really good ( except for the sleeping function which doesn't work in macos)
