  Old  Is vBulletin really needed?

Back in the day, there was just Ikonboard, IPB, vBulletin and phpBB. It was obvious which was the forum of choice then.

Nowadays I'm seeing loads more forum scripts around. Those that seem to do just as good a job as vBulletin did back then. Also, when I first got my hands on vB3 (back when it had just come out, also my last time using it before my licence ran out) it felt awfully buggy and a lot of the features weighed it down a lot. Now that it's on 3.5, I'm still not sure on my stance towards it.

The question is, is vBulletin really still the best forum to use?
