  Old  DVD Region Codes

How can I play Region Code 1 DVDs on Region 5? I had searched on google but doesn't seem to find a simple solution.

I think it depends on your DVD player. Some you cant, mine you can go into settings and change the region.

I dont know if you've found this site when you've been searching but:

If you find that your DVD-ROM drive is region coded then you may still be able to make it region free. This is done by either...

* Patching the firmware of your DVD-ROM drive with an unofficial/hacked version which has had the region checking removed.
* Using a utility to change to region of your DVD-ROM drive

sorry if I'm not allowed to post that link, i dont think there's anything illegal on that site.

Download any region. This downgrades your DVD drive's Firmware so it is to play DVD's of any region.

I had this problem, but I solved it by getting my ancient dvd drive out of my old pc and using that to play it. Old dvd drives, tend to be region free

You can then, do a backup of the disc, for use on your region.
