Vote for your new staff team.
Hi Guys,
As promised we will be voting in a new team of staff to help manage the site and take it forward. Salathe will remain on the staff, as he was doing an excellent job in the past, so is not included in the poll.
Please can you cast your vote for one of the members below.
The poll will close in 4 days time. The number of people assigned as new staff has yet to be decided, and may depend on the distibution of votes.
Thanks

Is there a way to vote for more than once person? Or are you only appointing one extra person?

Gurnk, the poll will only allow you to vote for one person out of the names mentioned. I guess it'll make you think about who you'd like to join the staff the most.
If you really want to vote for more than one person then comments in this thread could go some way to getting an idea - though only mention those names in the poll (else the nominations earlier would be pointless).
As for the number of people that will be joining the staff, that's not decided yet but probably more than one and less than fourteen.

I'll leave my negativity at the door out of respect for you Salathe. I'm not the most visible or chatty member here, but I hope this is an effort to put mature, trustworthy and competent people in place at TFL and fix TFL once and for all.
I would also like to vote for VI and Seb but unable to. I have talked and done business with both of them and they are both extremely intelligent and organized and would be a great addition to the staff.

Surely I can't be the only one who finds this concept of voting for a new team of staff, stupid?
All it's going to accomplish are the more popular members among the forum, not who's the right guy.
Simply put, Big Zee, Salathe, man up and promote whoever.

I agree. I'm sure there are other members here who would love to help with the site, and might have more time then the famous ones.
Then again, I guess this is better then nothing.

Ofc there are ppl that aren`t so popular or are new and would like to help. But it can't be like we choose 10 random ppl and vote over nick. With ppl with posts and popularity you have at least minimal view on a person and can judge it to make your vote.

I would have thought that having popular forum members as on the staff is a good idea - as opposed to having unpopular members of on the staff team?
If me and Salathe just appoint people, we will no doubt get the brunt of all complaints such as "he should never be a staff member" etc etc. By giving members the vote we are providing a democratic means buy which the users elect the staff, and have their say in who's on the staff. It's been to often the case that staff get accused of ignoring the users, so surely by providing a democratic vote we are listening to your thoughts?
We do of course retain the right to veto any vote which we thing will be a seriously bad appointment.

I think its a good decision to let the community provide input into who runs/helps out around here.
Obviously Zee/Salathe need to make the final appointments but this poll is at least invaluable input into helping them make decisions.
Right now, the popular guy is probably the right guy - at least in terms of gelling (sp?) people together and getting a bit of spirit back in the place. Pair that with someone with exceptional organisational skills (VI for example) and you start building a somewhat, dynamic team.
