Well, it's to keep moron spammers (like you) from immediately accessing it. Which, obviously, caused you to spam old ass threads.

It is a stupid rule designed to keep spam out of the marketplace. But thanks to people (such as yourself), it causes lots of useless posts on old topics. I guess the theory is that it actually forces people to contribute to the forum. I wish there was no limit so people like you would only have to make 1 spam post before disappearing.

The minimum post count restriction is in place in an effort to prevent people signing up, posting their advertisement in the marketplace then disappearing forever.
An unfortunate, and common, side effect is that the other forums outside of the marketplace get people making very short, non-contributory posts in other areas (often to very old, dead topics) in an effort to get 10 posts as quickly as possible.

Why the hell YAWL feel the need to be so damn RUDE is beyond me. It's that type of sour ass attitude that turns people off from TF -- In my opinion - there would be no need to "spam the marketplace" if there wasn't such a forceful and restrictive policy in place to get Members to contribute to the forum. Fact: Have a posting policy to access the marketplace = See a few unintelligible and stupid posts from Members who want to access it. No need to pull rank and condescend, calling people names and shyt though. That's FOUL and unnecessary.

You answered your own question: "In my opinion..." Congrats I really don't see who is pulling rank here, as it's not even mentioned at all. Again, congratulations on bringing up a point that's not even irrelevant in the first place.
But what's funny is what you're preaching against, you're doing just the same to Village.Idiot and myself. Hypocrisy is fun, AIN'T IT.

Why would we be condescending?
1. A user comes and makes ten useless posts, some bumping ancient threads. I don't care where you are from, thats rude.
2. A user comes and asks a question that probably has ten topics on this page alone and is in the FAQ, rules, and stickies.
3. A user comes and just wants to make one post in our marketplace and never be seen again.
If we were dealing with someone who cared to be a worthwhile member, my attitude would be totally different. Why should I be polite to someone who leeches the system and annoys us all?
Also, don't lie about me to advance your point. I have called no names nor have I "pulled rank".

Yeah, it probably has nothing to do with our ugly design, inactivity, lack of advertising, and ridiculous requirements to post in a slow marketplace.

I think its a good rule, to be honest. When I was running my forums marketplace, I used to get tons of people just posting in there with only 1 post. And the members wouldn't buy the designs because they appeared to be not very trustworthy and lazy (hence the 1 post )
