  Old  SWF To FLA

Is there a way to convert a SWF back into a FLA?

The previous designer at my work only has the SWF file of the website and apparently didn't back anything up, so i'm stuck. I see these converters on google, and they either look pretty shady or won't download due to corrupt .zips.

Any help would be great. Thanks.

There are decompilers you can get, but the short answer is no. You will never revert a SWF file back to it's original FLA state.

Sothink offers a software. You can purchase that. But thats not 100% conversion as well. As in sure, you may get a couple of frames on the timeline and all, but the library gets so full of junk, as the software creates every instance!

But yes, you can make it out, and may be able to reproduce it.

Flash Decompiller and SWF Decompiler (it is usable to have both as none works in 100% of the cases).

Trough keep in mind that during the compilation process some of the data is being erased. You could decompile a .swf to .fla, but you'll find quite a mess inside.

It is usable to fix a banner, but for more complex projects it would be faster to make it from scratch (if you can't, you wouldn't be able to modify the decompilled one either). Not counting the effords to understand someone's logic.

The majority of the time, it's best starting from scratch as mentioned above. You will then also have a nice FLA file for future editing, instead of a poorly created version that the compilers create.

I use SWF Decompiler. But if your SWF have been protected or encrapted, you may not be able to get the script back.

I recommend starting from scratch! You'll have a much nicer FLA to work with for future updates.
