  Old  MyFreelanceAuction.com - For sale?

Hey there. I hope you've heard of or visited MyFreelanceAuction.com, I visited it for the first time in about a week, today. I have exams in a few weeks and absolutely no time for it at all. It needs more promotion and someone with some knowledge to convert visitors to revenue.

I'm not formally selling the site, I just want to know what it might fetch to see if it would be worth selling. It's my pride and joy and I get great feedback all the time, I think it's got much more potential if someone else takes it on.

I recently added a few more features, such as the ability to add comments to auctions - hopefully that will encourage more of a community and more people coming back. I am currently not advertising it at all, but still get around 60 uniques per day:

A few stats from the custom backend admin panel:

Total Members: 434
Total Unique Bidders: 149
Total Bids: 212

Total Auctions: 48 (31 active auctions + 17 auctions ended in the last 7 days)

I'm not making a lot of money from it. When I had time for it I was getting paid ad links at the bottom of pages, these fetched $5-15 per month but I haven't got any new ones recently, and there are still ones there which should have expired. Google adsense I've made USD19.34 since launching a few months ago, not really a lot - I feel there is much more potential for money if exploited properly.

Basically I'd like a value on the site, if it's worth anything and if it's worth selling. I'd also definately be interested in someone with great experience in advertising and making money from the site, to help me monetize it, and be paid for it or a percentage or something. I'm open to all ideas.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Conrad, because of the way MFA works, it's not possible to find an exact number of what has sold. When an auction ends it's up to the auctioneer and buyer to work things out, like on a forum, so I don't know how many transactions actually went through successfully.

Well, I am not good a estimating a value but I would say a minimum starting bid of $100 because of all the members and traffic. But for a BIN, I would go up to around mid $xxx because of the major potential for this site. I wouldn't just go by my ideas though.

Yet I believe that this has major potential.

I would say a minimum starting bid of $250.

BIN of $1000.

You only know how much you spent on the site, and how much it is therefore worth to you. That should be all you need to know when coming to sell it for your price.

Regards.

Thanks for the comments and the help guys, I'm going to wait a little longer and get a bit more feedback before I make my decision.

i dont know about that, from what i can see he is making 0 to very little revenue from this site. A buyer wouldnt get any money back from the site.

Whilst I do understand your point Net, this is how I look at it.

If a buyer were to invest a little more in advertising, and improve the name and reach of the website, then of course, more and more people will continue to return and use the service. If this could continue, perhaps from a nice viral marketing scheme, MFA would obviously be one of the first places people go to, in order to either buy or sell a template.

Possibly by creating a monopoly over forums with a "Marketplace" forum, or the other likes of places to sell your designs/domains.

It is at this point that a fee could be charged in order to list, perhaps a one off fee for a year, or just a % of the final price, like eBay. Who knows, but I do know that if done correctly, MFA could be very successful.

I myself will be watching to see if this is placed up for sale, and see how the bidding goes.

Regards.
