  Old  Buying a New Laptop

I'm buying a new laptop and it's been hard finding one in my price range, around $600-700 USD. Need at least a Core2Duo or AMD equivalent, plus at least 2 gb RAM. Anyone got ideas?

It shouldnt be too hard finding one within that price range. I've seen a lot like that at local stores, but not sure about the specs. You can also try at ebay.

K...I think I've found one from Acer. Anyone used their laptops before?

Dell Inspiron, check the deals - you will definitely be able to get something with that spec for your price range.

Dells are great value and I really have not had many problems with them(Own 4). The new Compaqs also are good from what I hear.

For $700? I doubt it.

Get a Vostro 1510 from Dell Small Business.

You should check ebay, some of the new laptops on there are pretty damn cheap, recently got myself a new X60 tablet for ~1000 but the non tablets laptops would be starting to hit your price range

I bought a Dell Vostro 1710, and I'm really happy with it's value... except that I got caught in the whole nVidia graphics "weak die" situation.

If I would be buying a new laptop today, I would go for a Dell Studio 17. I think you might be able to get one without extras in your budget. However, I think that the 1920x1200 screen upgrade and the discrete graphics are nice to have...

I'd say to save up your money a little more and buy the Dell XPS M1330 or a MacBook.

Those are my two recommendations. Slim and small.
