[PHP] Need Help

I was wondering how you would go about doing the following: Allow someone to click a certain link then show an error next time they try to click it. Then until a certain amount of time has passed, they won't be able to click it.

I wasn't sure if I should use sessions or cookies to do this. Any ideas?

You would have to use cookies for this. A session is just that, a session which lasts as long as the user browses your website.
