Safest thing to do would be to put a watermarked preview in the thread and tell people to PM you for a live demo of the coded template, that way at least you can restrict who sees it.

On some websites they have directory listing like this:

www.example.com/demowebsite/

and nothing else?!But visitors can preview all pages,all buttons...all but can not see the code or images.In all preview pages are same directory,without changes,like in the example above!

How they do that??? Are they doing that in Flash,PHP or some another way???

@46Bit

I know how to protect my design with watermarks but I want to do that in some different way,like in the example above.I hope you understand what I have in my mind. Anyway thanks for the reply 46Bit.

  • Give us an example then?
  • And how on earth can they see the design without seeing the design? That's what your statement seemed to say...

I think (s)he wants to show the design without showing the code.

@pebas
The only thing you can do to protect your code is to serve them a screen shot. If the browser can render your code, then anyone can see it. No way around it.

  Old  How to present preview of design

I think the best and only way, how you can show your design to someone without showing code is to make picture of your template (e.g. take print screen) and then watermark it (that picture =) and publish on net.

After your "customer" like the template (and paid =) you can send full template (code, pictures..).

Note that it is better to compress it before sending (just simple .zip it)

I must agree, it is too simple. I am not good in "crypting" but took me about 10 sec to "break" that "code"

%69%74%20%73%75%63%6B%73

But on another hand - not everybody is going to try "encrypt" your code and if you do not leave there that note about Encryption provided by iWEBTOOL.com then it can be worthy ---- especially for small projects

(I'll keep using picture preview =)

  Old  Do it in flash, then you can keep your code

I got an idea. You can create working demo site in flash ...

If you have any site or portal coded in anything (HTML,PHP..) just place your design into flash, spend few minutes to make it dynamic (just simple action scripts knowledge will be enough) and you got it...

Client can click on it and you keep your code...

But it is not worthy for something like $20 templates (when you count time and all resources..)
