  Old  For good rankings: logo image or text header?

For good rankings in search engines, is it better to have a plain text header with your title? Like <h1>Title</h1>?

I've heard rankings depend on what's in your h1, h2, h3 tags. It seems like most sites have an image logo instead. Is this just as good?

Thanks for your help.

For example, I see two possible headings:

<h1>Talk Freelance</h1>

or:

<img src ="..." alt = "Talk Freelance">

Which one does better in google search?

You can have an image logo and an h1 tag

Both can be useful for the ranking,Search engine detect <h1> tag as well as it also consider image name, image folder name and image alt tags so target all for better ranking.

You can have both, a logo and a H1 tag for your headers. Just make sure that you put something on the alt tag of your logo or it wont be beneficial to your on site SEO.

For good ranking in search engines H1 tag should be effective and the image should be in required place with alt tag.

That's no problem at all. Image logos can be placed with an alt+text.

Whatever you do, do not use a h1 tag and then hide the text. This will damage rankings. While there is much discussion about it I decided to use text-indent to hide my text as a few reputable designers had recommended it.

Bad Idea. The next time it got crawled my ranking had been pushed from first place to the second page.

Stick to using an image logo with alt+text.

Well i think Headings tags are more reliable than image because the more heavy the image more time you site will take to upload. but it does not mean that you should not use image logo. Try some images that have lower space than jpg or tiff.
