I think one good quality, relevant link from unique domain is equivalent to 10 non relevant links so keep building links!!

I think quality matters more than quantity. I have seen some blogs talking about the negative effects of having a lot of links from unrelated niches. Google knows what is a good and bad technique.

There is no doubt that Google likes Fresh Content but it hates duplicate ones or sub standard ones ..we have witnessed this recently with the Panda update.

Fresh content is always king of any kind of SEO optimization. So for any kind of content quality is the main factor other quantity.

Quality content results are long lasting. Quantity is not that matter the quality of the content is good.
