vBulletin vs. phpBB vs. IPB

Which one do you think it's better?
I go for phpBB, yes I know it has holes, it needs to be updated every little, but I like the open source projects, plus phpBB is free, & when it's MODed, it can be much better than any other forum.

I also tried IPB (old 1.3 ver), it's ok, but I found it little complicated to use. Dunno how this ver 2 is, haven't tried it.

for vBulletin, I tried a demo somewhere, it's good, but again, it costs. I just don't know if vBulletin has ability to add MODs also? Anyone knows?

vBulletin is by far the best Yes vbulletin can have mods, in fact it is the software with the most available mods ( http://www.vbulletin.org ).

Interesting, didn't know about that. Only problem is, vBulletin costs, phpBB doesn't, that's the biggest reason I stick with phpBB.

You get what you pay for vBulletin's support is unmatched for starters.

Agreed with Young Coder, You get what you pay for.

I own licenses to both vBulletin 3 as well as IPB 2.0 and have tried them both out. vBulletin is, in my opinion the best Forum Software out there (as of yet).

I suggest forking out the extra money for a vBulletin license, in the long run you will be more than happy...at least me and thousands of other people are!

The problem with the current phpBB is that its code is old and I mean VERY old :/

I think Invision and vB are more or less the same...actually I think Invision is better because it seems to be easier to expand. vB is also easily expandable but Invision seems to be built to expand, in very nice modules, like how the Apache web server is made.

Hmm my new forum is based on phpbb2. How secure it is I don't know.

Ive heard that new versions of phpbb even today are still getting hacked. If you ever get a free hosting website for a phpbb forum watch out for a old version. If the date is 2001 to 2002 then you can most likely get your forumed hacked and everything erased by a crazy hacker.

Tried all of them and so far I love IPB 2.0 i didn't like 1.3.
PhpBB2 gets hacked all the time I know a lot of forum that were defaced with that search engine inject.

phpBB is very unsecure, they always get hacked easily.
IPB is just very hard to modify, and the design isn't really that nice.

vBulletin is good for me. I like it.
