Old  .htaccess Needed For The Site!

Hi TalkFreeLance,

I have done some research on .htaccess's and i really think you need one. It means that when someone types http://talkfreelance.com it will change it to http://www.talkfreelance.com and when Google spiders TalkFreeLance it means Google doesn't think its two seperate sites which means you could get banned for having that, but when you put .htaccess in then you won't.

Heres what you do, make the file then put this in it:-

AddType 'text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1' html

Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine on
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^talkfreelance\.com [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.talkfreelance.com/$1 [L,R=301]
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^[A-Z]{3,9}\ /index\.php\ HTTP/
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ http://www.talkfreelance.com/ [R=301,L]

Its a pleasure helping other sites

I would be very surprised if a Google spider saw talkfreelance.com and www.talkfreelance.com as seperate entities.
And in any case TF probably already uses a .htaccess - to redirect http://www.talkfreelance.com/thread15266.html to whatever PHP page URLs VBulletin uses.

Google wouldn't see them as seperate sites when listing them in the search engine, but it does affect the PR of the domain. It would also be better if talkfreelance.com was redirected with the www. as it would unify the website because logging into www.talkfreelance.com isn't the same as logging into talkfreelance.com. The sessions don't transfer between the two.

It's too late to do that. If anything, that could be dangerous.
