Old  I have some questions ...

I've never been too good at coding a template but i've done plenty of other type of CSS coding and im a HTML master. I was wonder id it was possibly just to slice up the template and then just throw in the text, like my current layout www.eastcoast-designs.net, i mean it has always worked fine for me to do it that way. I'd really like to start coding my layouts instead of just selling the templates.

I also know some of the basics of slicing but i've been reading the how to slice a website page .. Also would it best to Slice then hand code or Slice and then bring into dreamweaver ?

also what would be the best slicing tutorials ?

There's two great threads in Web Resources that are all about slicing, check them out.

Tableless CSS:
http://www.talkfreelance.com/thread5201.html

Tables:
http://www.talkfreelance.com/thread4265.html

My personal opinion is it's better to slice then handcode, but I have handcoded for years and don't know any better

What's the difference between Tables and Tableless ?

Also, I would like to implant a search bar into my template that would have to be coded with php correct and if so would i have to code my whole website in php ?

I guess coding with tables is by using the <table><td></td></table> tags, and table-less coding is one using CSS

you have three choices for the search bar

you can either use google on your site, code your whole site in MySQL + PHP or use get_meta_tags()

well...if all your site's text content is stored in a database, your range of search options/features are a LOT more.

with get_meta_tags(), your searches are limited to what you enter in your meta tags. the problem is, not everyone thinks like you do.
for example, for a page that has details on automobiles, you might choose to use the word "automobile" in your meta tags, someone else might not even know what this means, they might search for the term "car" or "vehicle" which might not be in your meta tags.

if it's feasible and if site searching plays a big role on this site, i think you should look to recoding the whole site in PHP + MySQL.
but if it's just something you want to add on, i would stick with get_meta_tags() because redoing everything will cost you time and money.

if you choose the get_meta_tags() option and it's a small job, PM me and we can discuss how you want to do this if you're interested

actually...it's better if you could email me instead at:
