Eversun it depends really. Wifi is created when someone has use of a unprotected router. Meaning you can "borrow" their internet when your close to that source.

Wifi is not used on the iPhone, that would be WAP which is the internet for all cell phones. Cingular now known as AT&T has there cell sites (like radio towers) that your cell phone connects to giving you call reception, and access to the internet usign there WAP, and when you buy the iphone you automatically get the unlimited internet usage so you pay no extra for it, but instead you pay there flat rate of like $70

There is Wi-Fi on the iPhone also, you can switch between EDGE and WiFi. Wi-fi's faster, so if you're in range, most people change to Wi-fi.

Ah, awesome. Though, I just heard it wasn't wifi, I didn't just assume that..
Ah, I think I was thinking that I was talking about the iPhone.. yes, I know the iPod Touch has Wifi. But I thought the iPhone had to go through AT&T for wireless access, hence why I thought it was paid.

Well I'm a Student from Germany, In my City University's do have 130 Wi-Fi Hotspots for all the University Members all around the City. We can even possibly use a MacBook Pro somewhere in the Park.
So what did I ofcourse do? I bought an iPod touch at the German Apple Store at September 26th, it'll arrive October 12th.. Still have to wait a few days.
I'll post Photos

the iphone also has wifi, just like the treo's but it uses internet to connect to the wifi, so it goes through both.
