Newegg is way good about DOA items. Good luck!

Fans on, keyboard not working, mouse not working, HDD not spinning means your PC is not getting to POST. The most common cause for this is incorrect RAM seating.

What you need to do is make sure your RAM is seated properly, I have had customers RAM sticks not work because they have been misaligned by less than a mere millimetre. This is the most common fault of them all in setting up PC's, next would be the graphics adaptor and then the other peripherals.

If you are sending the mobo back and getting another one, then remember to seat the RAM carefully in the new mobo. If you have problems getting it to POST then keep removing and reseating the RAM several times, making sure everything is solid.

Thanks Julian, I'll give it a shot. I disassembled everything and then my father gave it a shot at building it, and we still had the same problem. So we just sent in the motherboard for an exchange. I hope I don't get another DOA...

When you rebuild it make sure to ground yourself before you start, especially don't run round dragging your feet on a nylon carpet. There are a lot of static sensitive components in computer systems, and they don't take much to fry.

If you don't have a grounding strap it's simplest to ground yourself on the metal case, then touch the power supply and hold it (or case), the whole time you are working on your PC.

Or theres a grounding tool you can purchase. It hooks onto your metal case and around your wrist i think. I forget what you call it, but itll be hanging around ebay somewhere.

Just touch a radiator and you'll be fine.

I think I'll be getting some sort of grounding equipment this time around. I might as well get one considering the fact that I need a new optical drive and possibly a new OS.
