I tell them that if they don't like it they can go somewhere else, but only with me will they can get website that will please the customers.

I usually tell them that - you want be to do this crap?I explain why design should be this and not the like you are talking about. And give examples of some great websites and design

there's always a rule. if you really have to, just do it, but know they've crossed that line and start looking for a replacement.
