Old  Is using prisoners serving life sentences an option for the American Army?

there's like 3 million prisoners in US, i think it'll be good idea to give prisoners option to join army, and in return they get a passport to leave a country or something. i dont know, if i was serving life sentance, i would join it...

but then again they would be released to do the same thing they were sent in there for...

The American Army is big enough already. Also, what would be stopping the ex-prisoners going AWOL whilst in combat?

Are you sure that's a good idea? I'm not sure I'd want anyone who has done something serious enough to get a life sentance holding a gun.

Very good point, say a sergeant been serving for say 10 years in the army, and a squad of say 5 prisoners, all with guns, and opportunities to run at every corner, bad idea i say.

That's the dumbest idea I ever heard. Should be the end of this topic.
