  Old  Network bars, your opinion?

We've all seen the iNet network bar by now i'm sure...a few other sites have adopted this marketing technique and use similar bars on their networks. There is no denying that the network bar can be VERY powerful and if you have multiple sites with similar content then your visitors will naturally float between the sites.

But does the appearance of the bar outweight its potential for the owner? The reason I say this is, if talkfreelance added a iNet style bar tommorow there would be a large number of members disagreeing with it, I guess it's because people think website owners do everything for themselves and money and are never thinking about their visitors.

I have noticed alot of sites adopting this and to be honest with you I rarely click to see what they've got in their drop down menu. I understand why webmasters do this and some of the inet bars look nice and have been incorporated well into the site designs. I guess you can say I'm torn at the moment wether this is a good thing or not. For some sites it might work nicely but on others it might not.

In my opinion I like them. Theyre relatively small and dont distract from the content but if I like a certain site then I'm usually going to like other sites that the owner runs and so I like to float around these sites and check them out.

I don't mind them, but I also rarely check out what's on a network through their bar. Strange thing is I was thinking about one myself...

I don't ever click them. They just take up more space.
