Correct, here my setup which should be round your budget:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6400
Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3P
Corsair Twin 2X 1024mb 6400 Pro
Gefore 8800GTS 320MB
Seagate Barracude 7200.10 320G
Samsung 931C
SeaSonic 650W

That should be a nice setup and that set up can easily be overclocked to 2.4ghz + if you like

I must admit that alienware computers look good. But all they are just dell computer with a nice skin
