[Logo] Personal Portfolio
Hey Guys,
Some of you know that I'm not really comfortable with posting my WIP, or my work on a public forum for critique, however I see it as a good way to improve.
This logo was the first ever idea had. It's for my personal portfolio site iMoob.com. Here it is :
Any comments or crits appreciated, I'm not overly happy with it at the moment.
Thanks

It is weird ( not your piece, my thinking). There is something about it I like, but something holding it back. The text could use work, or maybe loose it altogether (if it in fact part of the logo, if not then my apologies). As for the actual logo itself I like it. but like I said it seems to be lacking somthing...maybe someone else can pick it up.

Thanks for the input, it actually helped me look at it deeper.
A few people have mentioned to me that they don't particularly feel as though the green works well in it, after looking at it I agree.
I'll be thinking up new ideas

Whats an imoob? Apart it being your folio identity...have the dot as a shade of dark maroon and the longer rectangler bar in aqua

IMO the brandmark (icon, whatever you want to call it) is not doing its job as intended. It is a nice piece of artwork but the whole idea is to convey a strong - recognisable - brand image. How about disregarding the highlights and extras that you have put on there and just starting with the "i" and surrounding rounded-rectangle. Building a recognisable logo can be difficult at times, I guess only experience can help but there are certainly pointers to avoid - the pseudo-3d/metallic textures are a no-no (for me at least).
Maybe I am just letting my own style shine through here, but how about trying just to "go simple" - I find working in B&W when making a logo (literally just two colours) can help distract from just making the work look "pretty".

Very true Peter! Logo designers should always(IMO) get on with the design process in greyscale and have variations of the same in colors, in 3d-form etc. Basically a client would always like to cut down cost on printing material when it came to number of colors. You can also have the desig process the other way round, having made the logo design colorful at first and then turn it down to greyscale. But that seems to be the wrong way IMO...

Thanks for the great feedback and advice guys, it's really helped me - I'll be posting variations in different styles later on today for you to take a look at and comment on. All points have been noted and will be of great help

Well if its for your site, I thinks its great. You could always make a greyscale version for printing. But IMO I like it alot, great piece.
