Yes, those are considered web 2.0 designs. However, the design itself doesn't make a site Web 2.0.

I hate the term "Web 2.0" in general. It implies that AJAX and CSS is something brand new. It isn't. It's been used for years, there's nothing "2.0" about it.

I wish people would learn what the term "Web 2.0" is all about. It is not simply a design style, though that is part of it due to the influence of accessibility, usability, etc, etc. As far as I'm aware, there isn't a web gallery showcasing only sites falling within the "Web 2.0" idea.

Many of the popular "CSS" galleries do display sites belonging to 2.0 but only because there are some sexy designs coming out -- there are equally ugly websites coming out, not getting showcased, which would comfortably be labelled "Web 2.0" also.

The whole concept of "Web 2.0" is very blurred to me, does it mean sites that use the latest design techniques and stuff, or does it mean sites made with tools that were made after the year 2000? I'm very confused...lol

Nightmare, it doesn't directly mean any of those things. It can encompass the "latest" ideas, and certainly came after 2000 but those do not fall into any definition of what Web 2.0 is about.

Thanks Salathe, the whole "Web 2.0" concept is confusing me. Now, to read the article
