SwissHosters gives its customers a chance to select an operating system (Windows, Linux or BSD) and provides virtual machines with scalability necessary for client software.

Linux hosting is cheaper and doesn't demand as much knowledge as Windows.

Choose a Linux Hosting account if you're going to use PHP, Ruby, Perl, Python, or CGI scripting. Our Linux accounts use a MySQL database. If you plan on using a Web application to blog, podcast, or create a shopping cart,

Choose a Windows Hosting account if you're going to use ASP or ASP.NET. Our Windows hosting customers typically use a SQL Server (MS SQL) or Access database. If you plan on using a Web application to blog, podcast, or create a shopping cart, check to see what language the developers used to create the application. ASP.NET application typically require some programming on your computer before you can use the application online.

I think that Linux are working much better with higher performance and security, but you need to understand linux.

Windows are much more havry with system resources and need advanced firewall and antivirus with it. the best thing about windows is that it's highly user friendly.

Windows is the easiest to manage without any knowledge,
linux is the fastest and have many free software, but you need more knowledge.
