  Old  Laptop downgrade

I bought a new laptop HP pavilion dv9700ca and i want to downgrade from vista to xp , but when i insert the xp cd , it doesnt work ?
anyone knows ?

Try to format first? I have vista for a few days and reinstalled xp no problem. Maybe its just your disk?

I would backup your info and try to format like the above poster said. A fresh install is always best.

Also make sure you have the right drivers for XP. Theres a 50% chance there are none for your laptop nowdays.

although quite alot of vista drivers are cabable on xp, I remember my old ACER was.

check if the cd/dvd is the first boot option in the BIOS.
also uncheck de SATA option in the Bios too.
