I would say AMD has more power but the Intel is more stable and less likely to become overheated.

I used to always have AMD.
I moved to a Intel q6600 pro (quad core 2.40ghz) and have to say, will never go back to AMD, it's just outstandingly fast.

One thing with the I had one then switched to the other, it is so fast I'm not going back. Unless you made a lateral switch it will be faster, that does not mean one is better then the other. If you got a higher model in the same brand it would also be faster. Please only make side by side comparisons when the products are equal.
