  Old  1and1 domain transfer?

Has anyone successfully transferred a domain from 1and1 to NameCheap without any problems? I've read about some problematic cases where a user tried to transfer their domain away from 1and1 and ended up with several headaches therefore, I'm skeptical about doing it as I don't want to risk losing that domain as it's pretty good in my opinion.

Hello,

Most domain registrars will make it quite hard to transfer your domain from them. Just how hard it will be will depend on your current registrar. The reason for this is because they do not wish to loose your business. Even if your current registrar is cooperative it will still take 3 days to transfer.

Yeah I don't mind waiting as I know every registrar has a certain process, even NameCheap which has been awesome so far has some restrictions. However, I'm more concerned about the actual transfer process being safe and reliable as I don't want to lose the domain.

they really have no say. make sure you're the ADMIN contact 100% especially your email. Find the AUTH code. Unlock the domain. AND INITIATE TRANSFER ASAP.

Make sure you COMPLETELY CLOSE/DESTROY your account. Whatever options they have there.. otherwise they will conttinue to charge you and if you don't pay -> daily threats from collection (even on a 10$ bill)

I recommend name.com

Three days is quite fast. I hear that it can take up to two weeks to complete the transfer process. Anyway, the new registrar would be very happy to get your domain transferred to their company and willing to help you in the process. Do they really have a bit "power" to accelerate the process?
