Problems with Colours

I've recently gone through all the things i need to improve upon for my web designing, and discovered one of my main problems was one of the basics i need to do, picking the colours.

How do you guys pick yours? Because i seem to be hopeless at this, so if anybody could just post how they pick theirs colours or wha they use to pick their colours would be a great help, also any techniques you use picking your colours as well, thanks for your help in advance!

1. Use a colour chart/spectrum thingy lol do a google search.

2. Use your brain, logically bright pink wont go with bright green (just example, they may well go lol)

3. Complement and contrast - use a few different shades of a colour, to give it depth and feeling. Then add some contrasting colours in, the contrast makes certain elements of your design stand out!
