I've got a staff member who when given a deadline, I can almost guarentee he'll go over it, should I just kick him off the team?

Yes. He is being paid for a job that you expect to be done on time, If he is not completing the work on time then he isnt doing the job he was hired to...
Although I would give him a warning, afterall if he is a great employee (Standard of work) you may not want to lose him.

I don't surpose anyone is interesting in starting a project with me are they (PM ME if so, i ask on here becuase it's the only forum I use that he doesn't and I don't want to get in his bad books if I do decide it's him I want to work with)

What sort of thing should I say though, i've told him before but he's ignoring it. He runs another site and his site will always come first... I'm considering writing him another email giving him a final warning.

I'd see if you can get anyone as good as him, if you can sack him and hire the other one.
