I've messed around with a few distros but Kubuntu is definitely my favorite, it is simple, fast, and stable.

I love OpenSUSE! I started playing around with it after I found Ubuntu to be a bit too bloated for my liking and I haven't looked back since.

Really everything falls on user preference. KDE, in my opinion, is far behind gnome in terms of stability and usability. I run Ubuntu 8.04 and prefer it over OpenSUSE or Fedora.

i've tried a few SUSE is the only one i can remember now but Ubuntu is what i stuck with it was the 1st one i tried after trying a few others i went back to it, and the use of wubi makes it so easy to duel boot without having to partion a hard drive which is great when you have loads of gb's used up and dont want to loose or back it all up just to format and partition

BackTrack, but then again, I only use Linux for hacking purposes.

I use openSUSE, but I'd say download a bunch of live CD's and try em all. The major differences that you'll see will probably be in package management, meaning installer/uninstaller. YaST (openSUSE) isn't the best I've ever seen, but given that SUSE is backed by Novell, it's really complete.
