Old  Language to follow up VB.NET and Java.

Hey guys,

I have been programming in Java and VB for a few years now and I'm looking to take my coding to the next level and learn a new web langauge. What would be a good choice, based on my previous programming experience?

PHP is always a good language if you want to start with *nix technologies. However you may find PHP a little disheveled after working with .net and java (I am experienced in both PHP and .net). It really all depends on what you want to do.

A scripting language like PHP, Python, etc. might be a good move just to see the differences (and similariest) between those and what you already know. Have you touched C# (.NET) yet?

P.S. Welcome to TalkFreelance.

If you wanted to proceed with Microsoft programming then I suggest going for ASP. Learning this will enhance your knowledge on dealing with Microsoft related programs.

If you want to veer off from MS then follow what the other fellows have advised.

Python is great. If you want an easier transition from Java, try C#
