Okay I got a question, when you purchase your iphone the plan has to have unlimted data but why do we if we just have wifi connection? That doesnt involve att at all. Whats up with that?

That's what they all say.
haha
They charge you for the data, because its AT&T and Apple.
They will do anything at all costs to make as much money as they can.

You have EDGE and WIFI because you can only receive WIFI when you are near a hotspot EDGE has a much larger coverage although it is far slower which is why WIFI is included as well. It's pretty simple really. All the services on the phone aren't all orientated around ATT if that's what you're asking (although I can't understand what the hell the first question is meant to say).

You don't seem to understand, the iPhone revolves around the internet, just not AT&T because there is WiFi. WiFi isn't nationwide service, you get the internet through EDGE where ever you have signal from AT&T.
I think you should go to a AT&T store and ask them these questions, as it seems you can't grasp the concept.

I understand what you are asking (I think). The ATT service is required for the iPhone's activation and use. It's a phone, and has to have the EDGE / calling plan built in (70 a month). If you just want WiFi, and no phone, get an iPod Touch. If you want a way to get around the 2 year contract, during the activation in iTunes, enter 9999999 as your social security, failing the credit check, which will give you the option of "GoPhone"; you pay for a month, cancel, and should have a nice working WiFi GoPhone (Skype anybody?). I don't recommend this, and am not sure if it works any more. All of the other software hacks have been kicked out from Apple and all the hacked iPhones don't work (GoPhone isn't a hack, it's actually a good option if I've heard right).
