C/c++ Ide

Does anyone know of a good IDE for C/C++ coding that is freewere and can create exeicutable files for free in? I'm currently learning a bit of C, from my uncle (he was a college professor) and he gave me his lesson plans so I am following them through but the IDE is 10 years old :-/ (TcLite [dos program]) Thanks in advance.

I have used borland c++ before. I am not sure if it actually costs money or not...i used it at University.

Ah, which university did you go to..jw. Yea my uncle taught it wth broland c++ when he taught, but it was the universities, not his.
