  Old  Show me your Layers!

So I decided it would be interesting to see what you get when buying a design from a designer here. How do you guys organize and name your layers and folders etc, on a design?

Show them off here.
and please dont try and make it look purty just for the thread, be honest.

Buyers, what do you expect or want when you get a psd from the designer? A nicely organized one, or just one that who cares bout it.

Also do you guys organize while designing or when its all said and done?

I do it while designing it.

At the end when the design is all done i go through all the layers name them and color them, would never hand out a non organized psd if someone has payed for it and certainly not if it's client work.

I personally know from experience when i've had to modify other people work and layers are merge so you have to actually ripp the design before you even can start what you was hired for, annoying as hell!

I still think thats a tad to messy, but well everything is intact and easy to find.

No images, but on a general note I find it much more useful to set my thumbnail size to 'None' and thumbnail contents to 'Layer Bounds' in the Layers Palette Options - that way I can get more layers in the window and navigate through them more quickly. Horses for courses.

Deffinately get into the habit, I tend to name mine once I've finished the element I'm working on, or once the whole design is complete I'll go through and name them and folder them.

That's extremely smart. I'll be sure to use that setting from now on. Thanks!

I've never really taken this into account, I just generally rename the layers nicely. However now that I've seen this thread I will be continuously naming and filing the layers since I know about it. Stupid OCD...

i use the thumbnail to differentiate between layers, only naming a layer if it has say a small graphic that doesnt show up in thumb. Lazy but it works.
