Old  TalkFreelance Photography Contest - Info!

TalkFreelance Photography Contest

By popular demand I'm happy to announce the first TF photography contest! The objective is simple; simply go out, take a few snaps and enter your best shots into the contest!

As this is the first photo contest we have decided not to select a theme for this contest so your photo's can be of anything you choose.

How to enter

To enter the contest simply post your entries in the entries thread - Please note this thread is for entries only, if you would like to receive feedback from the community on your entry please create a thread for it within the Photography Forum.

Each member may enter a maximum of 3 photos into the competition.

Deadline and other rules

The contest will end on Sunday, 5th August.

Once the deadline has been reached the staff will then create a shortlist of entries which will then be put up for public vote to decide the winner. The winner of the contest will receive a "Top Photographer" badge which can be displayed beneath their username.

Good luck to everyone that enters, I hope you all have fun taking your photo's and we look forward to seeing some good entries. If you have any questions about the contest please feel free to ask here!

Are we allowed to edit the photo for lighting and such?

lol, I'm sorry. I wanted to add them right now but I'm going to be back in like 20 minutes and I wanted to put them up right there. Geez, I didn't think it was that big of a deal.

No problem, I didn't think anyone would reserve the top spot but if you're going to add the pictures soon it's not a big deal

Village Idiot - I hadn't really thought about that but for this contest I don't see a problem with any slight editing people may want to do to fix up their photos.

Great to see this up and running, hopefully there'll be a steady stream of entries up until the deadline date. Best of luck to all entrants!

I'd kindly ask the mods to delete the reserved posts - and any future posts which don't contain entries - just for the sake of keeping things clean and tidy. There's no need to reserve a post near the beginning of the thread.

Regarding manipulation, you guys make the final rules; it'd be nice if we were allowed to change lighting, contrast, saturation and all that stuff but personally I'm dead against manipulation where things are added or taken away from the photo. This is a photography contest, not a photo editing one after all. Just my take on things, feel free to disagree.

Again, good luck everyone!

Yup thats exactly what I think too Salathe, any editing for lighting and contrast etc is fair enough but any major manipulation isn't allowed - like you said it is a photography contest afterall

Can't wait to see what everyone can come up with

Sounds great Love to see something like this on TF. I'll definetly be entering something after the weekend. Gonna have to make a trip somewhere and take some new shots.

Some quick questions about the photos for this contest:
  1. Do the photos have to be taken specifically for this contest? I assume yes, otherwise where's the participation aspect?.. In the first post, above, you do say, "The objective is simple; simply go out, take a few snaps...".
  2. Will the 'shortlist' created by the staff actually be a long list of all the entries, or just a selection of the 'best' (as deemed by the staff) to vote on?
  3. Can participants submit their three photos, then decide before the deadline to swap one entry for a newer, better photo they've just taken?

Some nice photos so far in these early hours, hopefully lots more will roll in over the next week or so.
