Old  Starting up a Business... help!

Hey guys,

I've posted my portfolio in the other forum, and 2 of you guys said it was alright, but not the best you've seen.

Now... my question is... How would I go about learning the different professional techniques used to make avertising banners, custom logos, and all the other features of making graphics that a corporation would use? Or something of the sort...

For example, I've been a major fan of http://www.banners2go.com for a long time now. They have constant banners and also animated banners, but their designs are the most eye-catching of them all. How do I go about doing something like these? Where do I start? What do I do?

My second question is this... Where did you guys learn all of your techniques.. And do you have any suggestions for myself.

I have no problem with getting clients at all because I have a bunch already... but I would like to enhance my skills... Can anyone help?

Here's my portfolio: http://www.x3k.net/portfolio

Hi there, i am glad you like the work on banners2go. The website was mine (still is right now) but wont be as of next week, i decided to sell the business in order to venture into a new direction.

I designed the majority of banners you see on banners2go.com. I learned by copying other eye catching banner adverts i had seen on other forums, i never once used a tutorial..it was all trial and error with the various tools in photoshop.

Most of the banners/webdesigns use the same basic techniques but the key to a great finish is the colour scheme, high quality images and a nice looking logo IMO.

Look through my portfolio of banners on www.banners2go.com, open up photoshop and try and copy some of the banners i designed. That is the best way to learn. For webdesigns i used to always visit www.templatemonster.com for inspiration on layouts, colours etc.

Hope this helps!

This should help a lot.

I'm shocked that you own this website... I bet you've made A LOT on it. Good luck with the sale.

What did you use for your animation??

WOW... ImageReady... didn't know that program had the capabilities of doing that, lol. I've tried it before, but I havn't been too successful.

I wish I made 1000/month. I barely make $5/month right now

What types of fonts did you use on most of your banners? It's one of those "professional" fonts that you see everywhere. Where can I get it?

I'm trying to duplicate http://www.banners2go.com/images/por...1/banner66.gif right now... Hopefully it turns out nice

Hey x3knet, also, read this article and download some of the stuff provided. It's a great help if you're just starting out on designing advertising banners and such.
