That's interesting, and you were lucky to deal with the person. I know it will not always the case, but you have inspired me that it's possible to happen. You would never know if you didn't try it.

Yep... this happend to me, also.. I was looking for a xxxxx.net domain. I actually found one that wasn't registered so I wanted to buy it. I've added some money to my paypal account, and.. when I returned to the registrar to buy the domain.. it was taken . I even tried to whois on that domain.. but all the data was private.

Registrar: name.com

I don't know if they do this with every searched domain.. but with the 5char-ones.. i'm pretty sure they do.

I am sorry to hear that. Do you think it will be useful to make a list of domain registrars which are known or suspected to do such a thing?
