Where to find images for a design?

Hello,

I am curious where these designers get images for a website they design.

Like in http://elliebennett.com/work/hostingdesign1.jpg

There is japanese girl, and another image on the down left cartoin chat guy.

Just thinking how these designers get icons and images for the websites they designs.

Stock Photography is what you're after :-P

That is a great list! Are they totally royalty free photos???

If you want something unique, there are a lot of mascot designers out there. Charges are usually $100 upwards for a decent design. You may be able to find someone cheaper ($30) if you dig deeper Or creating a contest in this forum/other forums might work too! eg. Design me a dancing banana, Winner gets $50.

When you open a contest you will get lots of logo from where you can choose your best logo you want.

One option is to look for images that don't require you to pay to use them.

Consider Creative Commons images on flickr or on http://www.sxc.hu/

These are probably the best routes when you're first starting off!

You can also use stock pictures from http://www.deviantart.com but the artists will ask you for a backlink credit.
