Old  Can anyone tell me the benefits of PHP?

I just want to know the benefits of PHP. I know the benefits but i want to know more about PHP so i need your views on benefits of PHP. Most of the facebook apps are developed on PHP so what else we can do with it?

Do some research before asking us questions which are this simple. Ten seconds on google would answer most of that.

He just wants to spam his non-linking link is all. No need to give this a thoughtful, reasoned response.

Put it this way - PHP has become so widely used that if you were to somehow kill the zend engine (the thing that runs php) on every server in the world for a day (say on april 1st), the internet would practically seize to exist.

Well, it really depends on what your comparing it to. PHP in my option is better and ASP but of course if you where to ask me that years back in the 90's and early 00's I would have told you ASP was better. So It depends on what your planning to be doing with it and what you want to compare it to.

PHP has an extremely big community that can help you if you any problem. PHP is very easy to learn and has a lot of built in functions that reduces your work. PHP is supported by almost all the hosting services (except those who use ASP). PHP has a lot of online free resources and frameworks.

But PHP has a problem, if you start with PHP as your firts language then you can have some problems changing to a strong typed programming language.
