Code for connecting live support

I was wondering how to connect a support button on my site with aim/msn to show if im online or not. I think its javascript that i need but not sure

so basically clients can figure out to whether im online or offline before adding me to their chatting client. thanks

There are also a few open source live support programs out there you could look at. I haven't played with any, but a Google search will get you started.
