All files have been moved. Making the final copy of the database dump for any NEW postings that had been made from the time of my initial copy in the past 4 hours.

The move has now been 100% completed. If anyone notices any issues, please PM me or post to this thread so I can address them.

Thanks,

Things didn't go EXACTLY as planned, but we got through them. Right now there still seems to be some lingering DNS issues as even though the DNS was updated to the new server, it's still pointing to the SoftLayer Servers for some people. I uploaded a posting with a link to the IP numbers so that people can at least access the forum, so everything should work itself out here in the next couple of hours at the latest.

So far, things seem to be moving pretty good. I wasn't aware at just how many people here on the forum are located in Western Europe, so speeds will increase for them as it appears the old server was located in Europe.

I enabled gzip compression, so this will help decrease the size of the pages and speed up transmission. I'll be talking to Artashes further on this to see what else we can do to keep speeds optimal for everyone.

I appreciate everyone's patience during the move.

Conor, thank you very much for your guidance through the process. As usual, an A+ job on the hosting side of management. Sorry you've experienced some complications along the way, but from the looks of it, the site is functioning very well, and that is what matters!

Yes, QualityXHTML, I could not deal with an option of TF just going down. It has a great crowd and lots of potential to get back on track.

'Speeds' will increase, or decrease?

Because of the Trans-Atlantic crossing the load time will increase - so the speed of the website loading will take longer. Moving the forum to a server that supports mod_gzip/mod_deflate should have been done a long time ago in my opinion, but at least we're there now.

I'm showing the HTML compression of pages which were at 110kb are now in the 15kb range, so a smaller page size will help with loading times.

Have you experienced longer loading times on the forums since yesterday?
