windows media player problem

I have this problem with windows media player. It wont play any sound, i have no idea why it just stopped working. I have downloaded all the latest codecs. The mute button isnt on. The volume is up on everything on the speakers and on the pc controls. Ive tried using a headset as well but nothing it seems to be windows media player itself which is the problem because ive tried other players and it works fine.

Have you tried uninstalling it then installing it again?

Probably a codec conflict if you're sure that you have all the controls on full volume. You could also check the settings of the program, that it has chosen your soundcard as volume output. I've had that kinda of problem where a program chooses bluetooth audio instead of soundcard as output.
