 Forum Spam
To the people who run their own forums, how do you deal with spam?
I have IPB running and i got so much spam its not funny, at least 20 posts a day, so wanted to know any tricks/mods/hacks to stop them, as i dont see much on TFL but not sure if thats because its VB or not.
Any ways thanks.

Stay up to date with forum software.
Make sure when you register you have to email validate it.
Also when registering you have to do that little code thing.
Have a look on the IPB Forums for more help in it.

Right now I'm also deal with a few spammer in my forum..thanks hasumoto, maybe I'm should up to date with forum software.

TFL gets it's fair share of spam but as we pretty much always have a mod online it never lives for long

Shouldn't this be in Community Building?
Anyways.. On my forums I just use CAPTCHA and email verification, and it gets hardly any bot-spam.

They can bypass CAPTCHA now a days!

Usually if you're a site admin you will be able to respond quick. Unfortuantly there are spammers and you can't stop that from the internet world. You need to fight it with your website think one step ahead of them and beat them.
Also if you are sleeping or out. Just make sure you have a world-wide staff team, so that you can have a staff member at different times of the day.
