hello friends,

I am Trinity Brown, new to SEO, kindly tell me difference between SEO and SEM as both these terms confuse me a lot.

SEO - search engine optimization is part of SEM - search engine marketing. Search engine marketing include not only SEO but also PPC campaigns in search engines and other SE related marketing strategies.

hi... SEO(Search Engine Optimization) and SEM(Search Engine Marketing) is quite the same. Both takes the process of developing quality for a certain website.
just read about Search Engine Optimization. With quite the same set up with SEO, SEM on its part does help increase visibility of a particular Website. In fact, their are also a lot of existing Search Engine Marketing Company that exist that offers excellent services like the New York Search Engine Marketing.

It's easy -- Search Engine Marketing cover all marketing strategies leading to the ANY traffic from search engines.

Search Engine Optimization cover all marketing strategies leading to the traffic from NATURAL search results (i. e. not advertisements).

SEM/SE : Search Engine Marketing or Search Marketing involves many components, including SEO, PPC, Banner Ads, Text Link Building, Optimized Press Releases, Shopping Feeds for Comparison sites, Contextual Ads and Blogs etc.
