  Old  Designs

Hey guys, sorry i've been away for a while - far too much dossing about.

Just wondering, i got asked by somebody to make a few templates for a couple of sites, when you give them the "templates", what do you give them exactly? PSD and fonts?

Thanks

Obviously everything thats internally used within the template, from fonts to the .psd itself. I suggest zipping all files into one, saves time and is easier for the client to open. I'd also suggest organising the .PSD aswell, always a plus point for the client and could possible lead to future work

All the small things...

Usually when a client ask for just a website design to be done I'll provide them with a compressed folder with the following:
  • JPEG Previews of All Image Files
  • Photoshop Layered Documents
  • Illustrator Files
  • A complete set of fonts (if you are to use a commercial font it's best to clear things over with the client to either make arrangements for the to purchase the font as well or you simply don't provide it within the folder).
  • Personally I also like to write up a little thank note inside the folder that has contact information, and a detailed descriptions of the project.

On the other hand if it is a complete website I won't provide then with the Photoshop documents or layered files (.psd) unless it's requested by the client initially. Sometime I'll charge x amount of money to release them. That usually depends on who will the work will become copyright to.

One thing i've seen vary with designer although when i rarely design ino I do it. Is that do you name all your layers? I do as i just think everything is easier to keep track of and as a coder if I receive a PSD with a lot of layers i wanna know which is one is straight of.
