First of all, 1and1 has the worlds slowest techsupport.

I'm trying to assign nameservers to a domain I registered with them. Not the name servers of the host, but rather create them....

With GoDaddy you simply give it a name, and set an IP address... With one and one, there is no place to do so.

All the emails back from tech support (one per day for days now) all tell me how to assign existing name servers... They do not understand the concept of creating a name server.

That is the last time I ever buy a domian from them... and I own a TON from there.

So, anyone know how to create nameservers at 1and1?

1and1 support is awful...one time i was on hold 40 minutes before I even talked to someone and for the entire conversation, it had to be around 1hour of holding and the rest actual talking..

I figured it out. What a pain...

First you have to create the two subdomains, ns1.sitename.com ns2.sitename.com. Then wait an hour till you can edit them. Then you can add an IP.

Crazyness.

1and1 are crap!

Bad support, bad experience, bad everything with them! I try to warn people to stay away because of my bad experiences.

Never again.

Yep. When my domains there get close to renewal, I'll be transfering.

One of the biggest hosts in the world but they focus more on gaining new customers than looking after the ones they have, avoid like the plague.
