I lost a potential client to... these guys?

I'm sorry but this site doesn't exactly scream great designers. I thought I was a lock to get the contract, the guy was a personal friend of the family. I talked to him once and he said he would definately go with me and to start mocking him up something and I left him about 3 messages in 2 weeks and he wouldn't return my calls. Then three months later, poof, he's got a site. Really pissed me off that he couldn't be a man and just say "we found someone else".

These things happen. Just try not to dwell on it and move on.

The finished product is nice, actually.

I think he subcontracts because a lot of the sites on his portfolio have random designers taking credit. Hard to believe that the same person who made that homepage made this:

That site layout looks very familliar i think iv seen it somewere before but i cant quite put my thinger on it ah well.

I think it serves it's purpose well, a lot of people don't release that a template can be simple, effective and do it's job, it dosen't have to be graphically intense.
