It's not necessarily just that, it's the way it's so disorganised. The whole thing is just messy and it makes topics etc. hard to keep track of. That's my main concern with it.

yes but there are many mods and ways to set it up that it is more organized.

It's -organized- differently. That does not make it disorganized, it just emans you aren't comfortable with foruming in a new way. Which is why I've not used it in the past; I'd hate to chase off visitors unnecessarily.

I'm using it on a forum, and I must say it exceeded my expectations. Is it better than vBulletin? I wouldn't know; I've never ran a forum with over 50 posts with vBulletin. You can always start out with vanilla, and if you need more power, different layout, or whatever the case may be, you can switch to vB. There is a plugin or something that supports the db transfer from vanilla to vb, just google it.

I say go for it.

I don't really like vanilla as some mention I find it really hard to keep track of threads and such
